Unknown green flat tumbler with a block pattern similar to Hocking's Block Optic pattern. These pictures were provided by Craig. Any person who has any information regarding these tumblers please contact me at kejaba1@yahoo.com. Craig as well as myself would like to know. He has 2 sizes of tumblers. One measures approximately 5 1/4 inches tall, has 14 rows or rings of blocks and 17 panels or columns of blocks. The other one measures approximately 4.3 inches tall, has 11 rows or rings of blocks and 16 panels or columns of blocks. No additional information is available. Any help identifying these tumbler will be appreciated.
Update 05/14/2018 - After a contact from Victoria, a user of this site, she thought that these might be a more modern reproduction of the Block Optic pattern made by the Anchor Hocking Company. Upon further research this pattern was named Carlyle, however being similar, the tumbler sizes and number of blocks per tumbler were different plus they were not made in green so I have ruled out the Carlyle pattern being these tumblers. However I did find a tumbler matching these sizes and number of blocks in crystal glass made by a Turkish company called Pasabahce but could not find any made in green glass. It may be possible that Pasabahce acquired the molds for the tumblers from the original maker if they went out of business and decided to only make them in crystal. It's not unusual for one company to buy a mold or molds from another company once they go out of business and then start reproducing the tumblers. I've reached another dead-end so as of now this pattern still remains as an unknown enigma. |
