A beautiful Westmoreland black cased lustre glass footed sweetmeat compote with gold trim dating from the 1930s. It is crystal colored glass on top of black colored glass and is often refered to as cased glass. Westmoreland called it "cased lustre" glass. The stem was left crystal and does not have the black glass casing. It has an attractive gold decoration around the top of the bowl and the foot. It measures approximately 5 7/16 inches tall, 6 3/4 inches in diamerter at the top and 3 1/2 inches in diameter at the foot. It has no chips or cracks and has very little signs of wear to the gold trim. A very attractive piece of glass.
